South China generally, and has been a strong advocate of the cultivation of Anglo-Chinese friendship. During the Great War especially it kept the Allied cause before the Chinese of this Colony, of whom

nearly a million are British subjects, whilst it has helped in raising funds for many deserving objects, in which connexion we may mention that a Special Fund which it opened in 1929 on behalf of distressed

British coal miners and their families enabled a

sum of over $10,000 to be remitted Home.

If you can do anything to facilitate our receiving a message from His Majesty the King, we shall deeply appreciate you good offices.
